The tendered price included a contingency of $50,000. BACKGROUND & COMMENTS: Four tenders submission have been received for the site clearing, excavation, lot filling, road construction, off- site services construction and streetlights and electrical ducts installation for the 26 Lot subdivision at Stafford Avenue west of Shaughnessy Street: . J. Cote & Son Excavating Ltd. . Bel Construction Ltd. 1 2 3. JJM Group 4, CPI Industries Ltd. The lowest bid for a 12 week construction period for the construction of the 26 Lot subdivision is from CPI Industries Ltd. at the tendered price of $1,151,285.28 (including G.S.T.). The estimated completion time fora 12 week construction period is January 1995. The tenderers were also given the opportunity to submit an alternate price if the construction completion time is to be extended to take advantage of "free" fill or alternatively if materials other than those specified in the Geotechnical Consultants report (75mm minus sand and gravel or river sand). The lowest bid in this section is from Bel Construction Ltd. at the tendered price of $993,517.47 (including G.S.T.) if the completion time is extended from 12 weeks to 20 weeks and alternate material is used. Bel Construction Ltd. is prepared to pay for the material testing to confirm the suitability of the fill. The estimated completion time for a 20. week construction period is March 1995. The marketability of the 26 Lot subdivision is much more desirable in March than in January. ; Bel Construction Ltd. has completed numerous projects for the City in the past and the work is satisfactory. Bel Construction Ltd, is currently reconstructing Reeve Street between Pitt River Road and Wilson Avenue for the City. Therefore, it is recommended that Committee award the tender to Bel Construction Ltd. for constructing 26 Lot subdivision at Stafford Avenue west of Shaughnessy Street based on the tendered price of $993,517.47 (including G.S.T.).
