PECCMHENDATIONS:

Li That aerial photographs suitable for municipal mapping applications ka
acquired and triangulated at a cost of $15,000. Work to be done by Eagle
lapping Service.

That 2 greund survey be initiated in conjunction with the acquisition af
the aerial ghotos at 4 cost af $15,000. Work to be done by City forces.
That annual budgetary provision be continued for the analysis of survey
and photos for the production of maps and the development of a digital
topolegical information base.

That fund for this work be charged to the capital work provisions for

BACKGROUND: Developments in remote sensing and computer systems have shown
that aerial photogrammetry is the most cost effective method of topological
data collection and most suitable for anticipated developments in municipal
information data management systems. Approaching municipal mapping as a

3,9@@ hectare whole, as opposed to a series of separate jobs, will increase
the return on existing city resources. This will result in lower overall
cost per map, improved turn around time and superior record management.

Current methodologies are unsuitable for a digital mapping environment.
This approach is suitable for a wide variety of mapping requirements,
including planning, parks and recreation, capital projects, bylaw
enforcement or consultants. As the information may be fit to the needs of
various city departments, or external forces, mapping cost may be recovered
from same. Photo analysis would be done on a priority basis, suitable to
the requirements at hand at a cost of $45.0@ per hour.
