THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: Mr. B.R. Kirk City Administrator DATE: May 13, 1993 FROM: Gordon Routley Deputy Fire Chief SUBJECT: EMERGENCY EXTRICATION EQUIPMENT RECOMMENDATION: That Council approve the purchase of Emergency Extrication Equipment (Jaws of Life). BACKGROUNDS & COMMENTS: Our emergency extrication equipment (Jaws of Life), are ina declining state of reliability. Over the last two years they have failed to operate on several occasions. This has meant that valuable time was lost as Coquitlam Fire Department had to be called to provide backup. Approximately $7,00C.00 has been spent during this time to keep the system operating. We went to quote on a system in 1991 but aid not purchase due to insufficient funds. The funds would be taken out of the Equipment Reserve Fund. The quoted price for the Hydraulic Rescue System is $41,040.00.
