The Honourable Cliff Michael Minister of Tourism Room 28 Legislative Buildings Victoria, British Columbia V8V 1X4 Dear Mr. Strachan and Mr. Michael: 1991 is Coquitiam's Centennial. During this anniversary a number of major events will be held in our community and our Chamber of Commerce is deeply involved in developing the tourism potential of this banner year. The Coquitlam Chamber (includes Coquitiam, Port Coquitiam, and Port Moody) will soon be applying for 1991 funding of our Tourist Information Centres. Since these Centennial activities will provide an opportunity to attract many thousands of visitors to our community, 4¢ stands to reason that more travel counsellors will be needed. Chamber officials have informed me that funds will be requested for six travel counsellors to work in their King Edward arn Westwood locations. While this represents a modest increase over the number of counsellors in recent years, it should be noted that our Chamber office operates as a year-round Tourism Information Centre providing outstanding community service at {ts own expense, /2
