THE CORPORATION OF THE CLTY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO BR. Kirk January 16, 1991 City Administrator FROM: I.R. Zahynacz, P. Eng. City Engineer SUBJECT: GVS&DD FRASER SEWERAGE AREA, N.. SECTOR DEVELOPMENTS (Public Works Committee Meeting, January 15, 1991) Recommendations: That the City of Port Coquitlam apply to the GVS&DD to extend the Fraser Sewerage area boundary to include an area of approximately 22 hectares located west of Fremont Street and north of the existing lagoons as shown on the attached Map "A". Background & Comments: Attached is a memorandum from the City Fngineer regarding a letter from Keith Taylor, P. Eng., Administrator, Sewers, dated December 5, 1990 regarding the Fraser Sewerage area for the Northeast Sector. Only property within the Fraser Sewerage area boundary can be connected to the CVS&DD sanitary sewer mains. 4s shown on the attached map a portion of the Northeast Sector is not included in the Fraser Sewerage area. Tn order to include new areas within the Fraser Sewerage area boundary, an application must be made to the GVS&DD requesting an extension to the existing boundary. The GVS&DD wouid then assess the need for upgrading trunk sewerage. facilities and determine any additional cost that would be borne by the City of Port Coquitlam. Rather than including all of the remainder of the Northeast Sector in a future Fraser Sewerage area boundary expansion, the Public Works Committee recommends that the City apply to GVS&DD to include the 55 acre area west of Fremont and north of the sewerage legoons within the Fraser Sewerage area boundary. The inclusion of the remainder of the N.E. Sector would involve consultations with Coquitlam and may require a long time to complete. I.R¢ Zahynacz, P. City Enginee IRZ32¢ Attachments
