THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM TO: Doug Riecken, P.Eng. March 12. 1990 Deputy City Engineer FROM: Russ Mammel, A.Sc.T. Project/Tratfic Tech. SUBJECT: Parking Problem on Kebet Way RECOMMENDATIONS : 1. Turn down the request to restrict overnight parking on the south side of Kebet Wav. Amend the Traffic Regulations Bylaw to include ‘Industrial Property’ in the section that lists land use types. which prevent parking within 5 metres of their drivewavs. Paint the curb vellow for a distance of 5 metres on each side of the driveways on the south side of Kebet Way. REQUESTS Two requests ceceived are to restrict overnight pavking on the south side of Kebet and place no parking restrictions adjacent to their driveway. The reason for these requests is because of the difficulty that tractor trailers are having entering and exiting their lot when vehicles are parked too close to their drivewav. The letter states that trailers are oirten parked right adjacent to their driveway opening. 30 that when the tractor returns to hook up. a vehicle won't be parked in front or the trailer. EXISTING BYLAW Presently the Traffic Regulation Bylaw prevents parking within 5 metres of driveways into hotels, theatres, public meeting places. dancehalls and playgrounds. One of the intents of this Bylaw is likely to permit easier access for large vehicles. With the addition of ‘Industrial Zoned Property’ to this existing list. the 5 metre parking restriction could be marked and enforted on Kebet Way. Painting the curb adjacent to driveways that are experiencing a problem may be more appropriate than installing signs, in this case. rsC6UNCIL® TITEM |
