COUNCIL JUL 14 1977 THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF NORTH VANCOUVER 147 West 14th Street » North Vancouver, B.C. V7M 1H9 « Phone 985-7761 OFFICE OF THE CITY CLERK June 22nd, 1977 City of Port Coquitlam, City Hall, 2272 McAllister, PORT COQUITLAM, B.C. Attention: City Clerk Dear Sir: Lower Lonsdale Waterfront Park - City of North Vancouver . The City Council has been repeatedly requested by various active groups in the City to urge the Provincial Government to provide a waterfront park for use by the public on lands in the City's waterfront area which were expropriated by the former Government in 1974. The Council has not to the present time been able to obtain a commitment from the Province to this effect, although the Minister of Muni- cipal Affairs did indicate some time ago that a portion of these lands would be used for this purpose. The Council subsequently resolved, at the regular meeting held on June 20th, to ask the member municipalities of the Greater Vancouver Regional District to support the City Council in its petition for a waterfront park. It was further suggested that, if feasible, such a park be designated a Greater Vancouver Regional District Park. The Council would very much appreciate it if other G.V.R.D. member municipalities would advise the Office of the Minister of Municipal Affairs that they endorse the City's petition. Yours truly, (Mrs.) L.E. Wilson ACTING CITY CLERK LEW/wp ec: City Administrator Urban Progranme Planners Mr. Gary Payne, President, Citizens' Association for Lower Lonsdale
