Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That as a priority project every other rumble strip installed on Western Drive be removed for a trial period of two weeks followed by a report to Council on whether or not the partial removal of the rumbie strips has satisfacterily alleviated the vibration nuisance.Carried. Mayor Campbell and Aldeimen Keryluk and Thompson voted against the resolution. Prior to passage of the foregoing resolution, several resicents of the area concerned who were present in the public gallery spoke to the subject and it was the general view of those living on the low side of Western Drive that the rumble strips should be removed and that stop signs be installed instead at appropriate locations to deter motorists from exceeding the 30 m.p.h. speed limit. rom the Planning & Zoning Committee, October 15th, 1975, submitting Plan.& Zon. Comm.re land a report on the question of land use to the South side of McLean Avenue use-South sidd McLean Avenue ยง for discussion and input from cther Council members. The Committee, in its report, advised it had arrived at the opinion that it is desirable to include the two City blocks bounded by McLean, Ryan, Marshall and Taylor for industrial use with M-3 (Special Industrial) zoning as a guideline, and that a suitable buffer be established, preferably using the existing 66-foot Marshall Avenue road allowance with possible extension into the block to the West of Brown Street in the form of either a road allowance or a buffer zone, when development proposals on these lands are presented to the City. Alderman Thompson stated he had advised some of the residents concerned that the report would be presented for discussion this evening, and he then displayed a map showing the present and possible future use of the area with respect to industrial and residential zones. The City Planning Officer briefly explained the replotting scheme prepared by his Department, and a short discussion ensued. At 9:10 p.m. Mayor Campbell, with the consent of the Council, then declared the meeting open for an informal public discussion on the subject in order that the residents concerned would have an opportunity to make their views known, and this was concluded at 9:40 p.m. City Adm.re From the City Administrator, October 17th, 1975, advising that the Works & Ut. Supt.'s atten City Engineer has recommended that Mr. George Ulmer, Works & Utilities dance at Solid Waste Seminar Superintendent, be permitted to attend a Solid Waste Seminar in California California this year as there are a several items of interest to the Engineering Department.
