Coquitlam oppose the rate increase proposed by the British Columbia
Telephone Company to the best of its ability;

AND THAT a proposal that the telephone rates be equalized throughout
the Regional District be advanced to the Greater Vancouver Regional
District for discussion and possible preparation of a presentation to

the Telecommunication Committee of the Canadian Transport Commission.
Carried.

Sr.Bldg.Insp.re From the Senior Building Inspector, April llth, 1975, reporting on

Sign B/law, canopies,

etc. a meeting of the Building and Protection Committee held on April 9th,

1975.

Alderman Traboulay, in speaking to the report, drew attention to
the proposal to change the Sign By-law to permit signs with a maximum
area of 32 square feet in agricultural areas over 4 an acre in size for

a permitted use.

That the City's Sign By-law be amended to permit Signs with a
maximum area of 32 square feet in agricultural areas over ‘4s an acre in

size for a permitted use. Carried.
Alderman Ranger voted against the resolution.

Alderman Traboulay then referred to the problem of canopies over

windows in the downtown area that would overhang City preperty, such as

is the case where the Commercial Hotel is concerned, and Alderman Ranger

advised he would provide the Committee with additional information in
that regard.

Alderman Traboulay then referred to the problem of temporary buildings
in the City, such as greenhouses, and advised of one presently under
construction that in the opinion of the City's Building Inspector, is
not structurally sound. Alderman Mabbett advised that he understood
this particular greenhouse is of exactly the same design as a large
commercial greenhouse in Burnaby. The owner of the greenhouse was in
attendance and he explained the structure of the building in question.
Alderman Traboulay pointed out that it does not conform to the National
Building Code; however, Alderman Ranger stated he would like to have
more information before making a decision on the matter.
