Members of Ccuncil March Sth, 1975 FROM: Mayor J.M. Campbell Re: G.V.R.D. Meeting - March 5th, 1975 Housing - ° I voted against the following motion because the Board has the ultimate responsibility for land purchase and therefore should be apprised of the situation before it is finalized: "Moved and Seconded: That the Board of Directors of the Non-Profit Housing Corporation be authorized to approve land purchases, where the parcels meet the objectives of the Corporation as determined by the Housing Committee, and subject to the approval of financing by C.M.H.C. (with information reports to the G.V.R.D. Board of Directors as appropriate). Carried." Parks - The following recommendation was passed: ‘phat it be recommended to the Board that the Capital Expenditure in the amount of $4,695,167. be authorized for the purchase of property at ten presently approved regional parksites - (Aldergrove, Belcarra, Boundary Bay, Burnaby Lake, Burke Mountain, Campbell River, Capilano River, Derby ‘Reach, Kanaka Creek and Tynehead), subject to the Park Committee's approval of each purchase." _ Hospital. - I had requested that a member of the Coquitlam Hospital Society be appointed to the G.V.R.D. Hospital Advisory Committee while in the plan- ning stage. This is the first hospital that has been built for 12 years; many new ideas are being kicked around and I am certainly convinced that all the decisions are made by the Advisory Committee. My recommendation was defeated and the following resolution put forward by the Executive Committee was passed: "That it be recommended to the Board that the G.V.R.H.D.'s Advisory Committee membership do NOT be expanded at this time, but that individual hospital societies be involved as appropriate, along with the Hospital District and B.C.H.I.S., on project management committees which will be established from time to time to handle new facilities and/or major renovations.” .....cont'd, Page - 2 -
