Alderman Laking agreed with Alderman Traboulay's views in this regard and both Alderman Traboulay and Alderman Laking stated their opinion that fur-— ther discussion in Council should not take place until a full Council was pre- sent to participate. Alderman Ranger advised that he would not be prepared to have the By-law reconsidered by the Planning & Zoning Comnittee until var- ious members of Council had stated their suggestions for improvements and made other necessary comments as he felt this was a subject that should ‘be discussed in open Council. Moved by Alderman Ranger: Seconded by Alderman Traboulay: That the Committees to which By-law No. 1255 had been referred be dis- charged from further consideration thereof and that the By-law now be debated. a Defeated. CORRESPONDENCE & PETITIONS : From the Columbian, August 27th, 1973, soliciting the City's participa- tion in that newspaper's 1973 Trade & Industry Edition. Moved by Alderman Traboulay: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the City of Port Coquitlam participate in the 1973 Trade & Industry Edition of the Columbian newspaper to the extent of purchasing a one-half page advertisement to be devoted to the publicity of the City and Industrial area, with no reference being made therein to the Council or Civic Administration. Defeated. Alderman Thompson voted in favour of the reselution. Prior to defeat of the resolution quoted above, Alderman Ranger advised that the current Agricultural Land Freeze affected a great portion of the City's industrial land and for this reason it would be inappropriate to pro- mote its use for Industrial pur poses at this time. Alderman Traboulay fur- ther pointed out that the various statistics concerning the City's Indust- rial area were now being updated, but would not be available in time for publication in the advertisement.
