COU JAN 2 4 1972 Ian A. Cutreil, 2580 Shaftsbury, Port Coquitlam, B.C, January 18, 1972 The City of Port Coquitiam, 2272 McAllister, Port Coquitlam, B.C. “Attention: Mayor Bruce Scott. Dear Sir: On behalf of the Parents of the boys on the Port Coquitlam Rugby Team, I request Council to re-consider their appeal for financial assistance for their forthcoming trip to Engiand and Wales, to play Rugby. . As you know, this request was first made last year, and to our knowledge, was supported whole heartedly by Council. Due to this, I feel that special consideration should be Given. I do not consider this a "hand out" as the boys and parents have worked many hours and have raised, to date, approximately $8500.C0 through various meuns, ¢.€. cutting and selling alder fire place wood, selling cans of Peanut Brittle, Walk-A-Thon, carnival at the school, delivery of Schuol District 43 pamphlets, bottle pick up, which included bottles not normally returned for credit but reclaiming of bottles normally thrown out. To date more than 144,000 such bottles have been delivered to Dominion Glass, Don't you think they have contributed to solving, in some small way, our pollution problem? . The boys are now writing end of Semester exams, and must complete three extra weeks of school work on the second Semester to compensate for their absence, They need help as their committments have been made and time becomes a factor, The team will be dressed in Blazers, Slacks, Shirt and Tie, with a Crest stating "Port Coquitlam Cougar Rugby Team". It should prove excellent advertising for our City as it is the first time such a group have made a trip completely financed by their own efforts.
