Dear Editor: I have a two fold reason for writing to you. One te related to the note in the January newsletter about supplying names of potters we would like to read about. I can't aupply a mame, but rather a category - "single firers". Pottere who have eliminated the bisque step. Due to a year I spent travelling and studying (with Dennis Parks itn Nevada and at the Inatttuto Allende tn Merteo), I have contactea with pottere in the States who are single firing, but I've had no luck finding kindred soule tn B.C. I am currently working in stoneware and porcelain and all my work is raw glazed and single fired in a small gas reduction kiln to eone 10. Could the Guild'e newsletter help me locate any other single firers out there? Or provide a forum for a discussion of the process? The second reason for my letter relatea to volunteer work I've been doing at Skeleem Village here on Vancouver Ialand. Skeleem te a work and home community for handtcapped adults. I have been involved in setting up a small pottery studio tin the workshop section of the village and tratning reatdenta in hand building techniques. I am finding that working tn clay ts a pleasurable and therapeutic activity for the villagers ae well as providing the village with a few marketable items.
