iF ‘YOU’RE planning on visiting Santa’s headquarters this
month, better bring your shades,

> Nelson McGinlay’ s residence, located at 5502 Highway
16 West, is lit up by more than 10,000 Christmas bulbs
(that’s four kilometres of electrical cord).

* His 70-foot Christmas tree at the back of his property
holds about 700 lights alone.

«It takes family and friends three days to decorate the
house and yard. McGinlay then takes three days off work
to hook up all the electrical cords.

» He said he goes to all the trouble at Christmas because he
wanis to give something back to people here,

"Terrace has been really good to my family,” he said.
“It’s a way to say thank you to everybody.’’

° He’s been dressing up as Santa since 1969 and decorat-
ing his home and yard for seven years.

"It’s just really rewarding,’ he said, “It puts a bit of
cheer into a lot of people,’”

= MeGinlay’s Christmas decorations will light up the night
until Christmas Eve.

« Santa will be making appearances from Dec. 18 to Dec.
24 from 6-9 p.m.

« More than 180 children came to sit on Santa’s knee last
Christmas Eve.

: And he said it’s not uncommon for 200 cars to drive by
for a good look.

~ McGinlay said a donation box will be provided. All pro-
coeds will go to the Village of Peace Senior Care Society,

- Last year McGinlay said he raised $1,600 for the Cancer
Society.
