It's NO Coincidence that the title of this year’s Vancouver Francophone Summer
Festival alludes to the well-known song by Frangoise Hardy — only in reverse.
After celebrating tne festival's twentieth year in 2009 with the créme de la creme
of contemporary French singer-songwriters (We hit the bul's eye with Melajube,
Karwa and Pierre Lapointe, wno all went on to win Felx awards in a range
of categories at the November ADISQ Gala, Quebec music industry gala), it
happened that all the artists who took the stage at the Gala were.men. We had
already made it our mission to make up for this in 2010 by giving a special place
to the women wno are currently making their mark in Francophone songwriting

The news gave us plenty of leads to go on: little known to the joublic a year ago,
Coeur de pirate won the Félix for Discovery of the Year at the same ADISQ Gala,
which catapulted her into the spotlight. She quickly became an intemational
success wnen she won the Victoire de la Musique in France for the song
‘Comme des enfants’ in March of this year. The same month, one of Quebec's
most prolific singer-songwiters, Lynda Lemay, with 11 aloums and 3 milion
copies sold over the course of her career, was immortalized wnen she was
made a Chevalier de lOrdre de la Pléiade, one of the most prestigious awards
in the Francophone word. A newcomer to Vancouver's music scene, Pascale
Goodrich-Black wil be joined by her band Valley of Wolves for the launch of thelr
eponymous debut aloum. And for a spectacular finale, another rising star, the
flamboyant Salorina Sabotage from the duo Orange Orange, noticed at the Vue
sur fa releve festival. They wil get all the gifs and all boys dancing at our brand
new event, Piknic Hectronik, on June 24 outdoors at Malkin Bow in Stanley
Park, giving a youthful sparkle to Vancouver's St-Jean-Baptiste Day celeorations
in French!
