dernier, il participait pour la premiere fois au Gala provincial de la Chanson
et se retrouvait lauréat dans la catégorie Interpréte, bel aboutissement
d'une participation qu’il considérait comme une étape importante dans sa
carriére de chanteur en frangais.

Born in Moscow, Alexei Litvinov starts piano lessons at 7 years old. At 9, he
wins a regional singing contest, and then takes part in numerous shows
throughout Russia along with other young interpreters. While studying
French Philology at Moscow University, he maintains his musical
involvement by singing in pianos-bars. His repertory contains mostly
French songs. After graduating, he enters the Moscow Academy of Music
where he studies voice. Delighted with the multilingual aspect of Canada
(he moved to Vancouver in 1999), Alexei Litvinov was very eager to find his
place in the Francophone community. Last April, he participated in the BC
Gala de la chanson francophone and won the Singer award: a fine reward
for Alexei in the pursuit of his French singing career!

MAURICE ALBERT (C.-B./BC)

Originaire de l'Ontario, Maurice Albert vit désormais a
Vancouver ow il a déja participé a deux formations des Ateliers de |.
la chanson. Il a également été membre de plusieurs groupes ©
musicaux anglophones. Ces expériences lui ont permis de se former a la
composition. Maurice Albert est avant tout passionné par la scéne: jouer
devant un public est une vraie vocation pour lui. Son style rock trés original
a séduit le public et le jury au Gala provincial de la Chanson le 12 avril
dernier, puisqu’il a remporté le prix dans la catégorie Auteur-compositeur-
interpréte. Il attend maintenant avec impatience le Chant’Ouest de
Winnipeg!

An Ontario native, Maurice Albert now lives in Vancouver. Here he has
participated in two song-writing workshops and worked with many
Anglophones bands, concentrating on composition. His main interest in
music, however, remains playing for an audience: he thrives on stage
performance. His very original rock style seduced both the public and the
jury of the last Gala de la chanson francophone in April: he was awarded
the singer-songwriter prize.
