-2- AND WHEREAS the proposed emission standards for nitrogen oxides (55mg/cubic metre by the year 2001) are not equal to those in place in other countries (Japan 21 mg/cubic metre); AND WHEREAS the cperation of Burrard Thermal couid result in the release of up to 1500 pounds/day of chiorine into Burrard Inlet and up to 300,000 gallons per minute of water as warm as 27 degrees Centigrade; AND WHEREAS the impact of these emissions from Burrard Thermal on the aquatic habitat of Port Moody Arm, an important rearing area for several species of salmonids, has never been adequately examined; AND WHEREAS the construction of a cogeneration combined-cycle generating station has not been sericusly considered; AND WHEREAS the propcsed additional shipment of chiorine aiong Port Moody Sireets, especially loco Road, will create an additional hazard and concern to residents; NOW THEREFC °E BE IT RESOLVED THAT the City of Port Moody pe _n the Provincial government to require B.C.
