August 16th, 1976 a little critical in regard to the points raised earlier by Alderman Ranger, particularly with respect to the Regional Town Centre proposed for the North- east Sector, and he requested that a decision be made by the Regional District on the location of such a Centre. Mr. Farry stated that the Regional District was requested to evaluate the proposals for Town Centres submitted by the City of Port Coquitlam and District of Coquitlam and following a review by the Planning Committee, an extensive document was prepared and sent to each munici- pality indicating the problems of both sites; however, the matter was left in abeyance during the time of the Municipal and Provincial elections, Mr. Farry _ continued by commenting on the fact that the present Provincial Government does not seem to hold exactly the same views as the previous administration in regard to development and it was hoped by the Board that a meeting thereon can be held with the Minister in the next short while. Alderman Laking stated his view that the only way to control a Town Centre development in the North- east sector is to take the power of zoning away if the location of such a centre cannot be agreed upon by the municipalities involved, and Mr. Farry suggested that a meeting be held with representatives of the Regional District, Port Coquitlam, the District of Coquitlam and Port Moody to try and resolve the problen.
