Ald.Mabbett re Alderman Mabbett referred to the street lighting program and advised St. lighting program that approximately two weeks ago the Assistant City Engineer had checked with the B. C. Hydro & Power Authority and was informed that the lights were installed and that billing was on the way therefore; however, the lights have not been installed and the Authority has promised to give the matter priority this week. Moved by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Laking: That a very strong letter be sent to the B.C. Hydro & Power Authority requesting better service with respect to the City's Street Lighting Programme. Carried. Ald.Mabbett re Alderman Mabbett referred to the George Pearkes Junior Secendary safety problem- George Pks. School problem and a report from the Fire Chief, Dacember 6th, 1974 Schoo! thereon wherein the work required to bring the school up to a safe standard was outlined. Alderman Ranger suggested that a close watch be kept on the new Lincoln Avenue School presently under construction in order to avoid a similar situation. Alderman Thompson then gave Notice of a Motion he intended to present at the meeting next week concerning certain other items relating to school safety and stated he would be distributing a report to members of Council prior to that time. Alderman Mabbett advised that the Schocl Board is now rectifying problems the Fire Chief and Fire Prevention Officer had discovered in other schools in the City. Ald.Traboulay re Alderman Traboulay inquired concerning the property at the North~ GVHC property-NE cor. Lougheed & east corner of the Lougheed Highway and Westwood Street purchased by the Westwood Greater Vancouver Housing Corporation, and His Worship the Mayor advised that during his recent visit to Victoria he had discussed the matter with the Housing Department and at that time it was indicated they might be interested in trading if the City could give them property of an equivalent type. Ald.Traboulay re Alderman Traboulay referred to the press coverage being given with Mayors' meeting- Juvenile respect to the proposed Mayors' meeting on the Juvenile Delinquency Delinquency situation and Mayor Campbell advised that he had discussed the matter
