Ricard Subd.- long cul-de-sacs as in the event that the road has to be closed for any pitt Riv. Rd. ; -cul-de-sacs reason such as, a watermain break at the intersection, the longer the cul-de-sac the more people will be affected and the greater the chance of an emergency occurring while the road is closed. Moved: by Alderman Mabbett: Seconded by Alderman Keryluk: That as recommended by the Public Works Committee, May 12th, 1978 the City accept subdivision proposal No. 1 and not the long cul-de-sac proposal in the proposed subdivision on Pitt River Road described as Lot 2, Block X, District Lots 255 and 384, Group One, Plan 7387, New Westminster District and Parcel "A", Block X, District Lots 255 and 384, Group One, Plan 24243, New Westminster District; AND THAT the City Clerk proceed with the arrangements necessary to hold. the required Zoning Public Hearing. Carried. Aldermen Thompson and Laking voted against the resolution. A general discussion then ensued and Acting-Mayor Alderman Thompson and Alderman Laking indicated that they found no difficulty in accepting longer cul-de-sacs in subdivisions.
