Ultimate club looks for new blood THE TERRACE Ultimate Club is on the look-out for new players to take part in this exciting, growing sport. Ultimate — sometimes called ultimate frisbee - is a fun, team sport which uses a Frisbee-type disc instead of a ball. Played on a field, it is a fast-paced sport with an emphasis on fair play and team spirit. And the local club is recruiting more members. Five Terrace gymnasts had the opportunity to meet Kate Richardson who competed in women’s gymnastics at the 2000 Olympic Summer Games in Sydney, Australia. “They were thrilled,” said club spokesperson Lori Schulmeister. Competing against some of the best gymnasts in the province, the cham- pionships gave the young- sters a chance to get a feel for high level competition. Erica Dykes, 12, took part in the Level Two No- vice, The highlight of her performance came with a sixth place finish out of 50 on the vault. Nicole Pelletier, 10, was competing in her first ever championships in the Level Two Argo category. She placed 14th on vault, 26Ih or bars, 22nd on beam, 18th on the floor. Jessica Ames, 10, competing in the Level Three Tyro division. She placed ilth on vault, 18th on bars, fifth on beam.
