airport weather office bear out
what everyone knows.

It's been one fabulous spring.

The records show April was
warmer, dryer and sunnier than
usual, says the weather office’s
Bill Stafford. .

April produced 33 mm of pre-
cipitation — half the month’s
average of 68.6 mm, That in-
cluded almost no snow, compared
to the usual 14 centimetres or so.

Recorded sunshine was just six
hours short of the 216-hour
record for April set in 1989, and
well over the normal 148 hours.

Terrace cracked a high tempera-
ture record last week when the
mercury hit 27.3 degrees Celsius
— more than five degrees over
the 1956 record — on Monday,
. May 8, .

We'll have to go a lot further
than that to break the highest
temperature ever recorded in
May, however.

That was 35 degrees on May
29th, 1983,

“So we've been warm before,’’
noted Stafford.

Claims talks halted

the senior federal treaty negotia-
tor.
