It will be something of a . return to his roots for Grand Exalted Ruler Don Kidd, who first joined the Elks in 1958 in Prince Rupert Lodge No, 342. Now from Penticton, Kidd will be meeting local Elks Club and Order of the Royal Purple members on Thursday, March 16. The Elks and the Order of the Royal Purple are fraternal organizations founded in 1912 and have 45,000 members. Their most recent project has been the renovation of the old nurses residence at Mills Memorial Hospital. Now known as Sleeping Beauly Lodge, it has been turned into a visitors’ hostel for families of out-of-town patients. Local Elks are irying to in- crease their membership to better serve the community.
