Honor of Late Canon Marsh —— A large congregation enthered at St. Memorial Window was unveiled = itl memory ‘of ‘the late Canon Thomas 5. Marsh, Canon Marsh was one of the historic figures of Terrace. After ser- ving in the Hay River in the North aly est Territories, he came to this vai- ley ‘in 1908, locating first at Kalum where he built a rectory and a church Later in 1913: the present churel was built in Terrace and he al- so established his home here, His was a real frontier home at which all were welcome, and he incuded in his work ns rector a great deal of nursing and ‘caring for thé sick, and helping sett- lers over rough places in their lives in a new country. In 1926 his health be- enme bad, and he found it necessary to be relieved of the burden. For the following fouy years he was a well known tnd generally beloved figure in town, and in spite of his Il health and suffering he was full of cheer and of kindly. words for. others, His death in 1930 left a big gap in the community ‘ife, About the time of his retirement frum active work it was felt that a Inemorial should be erected to the mem ory of his services—this while he still lived. On looking over the district it was felt that Usk, till then without a church, was the best place in which to keep hia memory fresh. A community church therefore was planned. To this the Anglican church letit-financial as- sistance. Lhe United Chureh gave 0 donation and the folk of Usk gave free- ly of money and labor.to bring: the -chureh to completion.” In keeping with the wide wisdom of Canon Marsh who gave freely of his time to members of all denominations the, Usk church wus made available for services of all creeds.. Since then this church has served the Usk community as a centra of religious activities. Mrs. Marsh, who until last fall had spent part of each year here, finally ‘decided to dispose of her home and go to Vancouver. When this was known | it provided an impetus for a memoria} to the late Canon, this to be installed in St. Matthews church, After some consideration it was decided that’ it would be o memorial window and a subscription list was opened. Recog- nition of hig work came from far and near and many local people subscribed inclnding some from~ other ‘denomina- tions. Money came from Prince Ru- pert and as far enst as Toronto.
