14 Terrace Review — Wednesday, May 23, 1990 Theatre Summer School _s[ | - warms up for July start The Terrace Little Theatre Summer School is gearing up for another season of theatre arts and fun. The focus of the program is to introduce children to drama/ theatre in a cooperative, play- oriented environment. This is the 12th year of the Theatre Summer School, cater- ing to Juniors (going into Grade 2 to Grade 4 level) and Seniors (up to Grade 7 level). There will be two sessions, the first one running July 9-27 and the sec- ond August 7-14. Both pro- grams will run five days a week, with the juniors program taking place in the mornings and the seniors in the afternoons. Four senior student faacilitators, funded through the federal Challenge 90 program, will in- Dance Revue struct a total of 20 students in each of the four programs. The youngsters will be introduced to ‘group process’, and the impor- tance of all roles in the theater, whether they be ‘‘on-stage’”’ or **behind the scenes.”” Organizers of the Terrace Lit- tle Theatre Summer School pro- pram recommend that parents enroll youngsters who have an interest or creative abilities in writing, costumes, design or ac- ting, and children who enjoy a creative environment. Some of the issues which will be addressed through theatre are the environment, AIDS, literacy and drug and alcohol abuse. TLT update The Terrace Little Theatre recently held their Annual Gen- eral Meeting at which a new board of directors was elected. The new executive members are president Alan Weston, vice president Norah Ferguson, treasurer Gordon Oates, secre- tary Gayle Holtom, and direc- tors-at-large Marianne Brorup- . Weston, Karla Hennig, Gord Shaben, Karin MclIImoyle and Betty Barton. The Terrace Little Theatre is ending this season with a bang with the premiere performance of Daniel Barnswell’s ‘‘“Room 44°" on May 31 at the R.E.M. Lee Theatre. And, casts and crews from the recent produc- tions of ‘Forever Yours, Marie- Lou’’ and ‘‘No Problem’’ are gearing up for two performances in Kemano some time in June. The next meeting of the Ter- race Little Theatre will be on June 11 at 7:30 p.m. in the Mc- Coll Playhouse.
