BACKGROUND & COMMENTS

Applications for 1991 Water & Sewer Capital Grants are due November
30, 1990. Under the program the province will fund 25% of the eligible
approved capital water and sanitary sewer projects. The submission of the
recommended projects will not necessarily commit Council to the construction
of these projects. Council will have the opportunity to assess the merits of
these projects against other 1991 Capital projects during the upcoming
detailed budget duscussions. In order for staff to submit an application
under this Program a resolution of Council is required.

For the purposes of this application the Engineering Department is
recommending the projects so described in Appendix A (attached).
