Eng., City Engineer SUBJECT: Crosswalk on Westminster Avenue at Maxwell Place Public Works Committee, October 11ith, 1983 ECOMMENDATION: That the City install a crosswalk across Westminster Avenue at Maxwell Place for access to the James Park Elementary School provided that the principal maintains a schoo} patrol at the crosswalk. BACKGROUND AND COMMENTS: i Maxwell Place leads to a walkway from the Twin Cedars development and thus serves a large proportion. of children crossing Westminster Avenue. Requests have been received from +ime to time for a crosswalk at this location. These requests have been passed on to the principal of the James Park Elementary School with the suggestion that a school patrol be implemented. We now have a letter from the principal Indicating his willingness To provide a school patrol. This focation is directiy across from the main entrance to the schoo} and thus is suitable for the patrol to be observed by supervisors from the school. KE FE.
