MEMORANDUM C ¢ U OCT Mayor and. Council October 24th, 1980 27 1980 Alderman L.M. Traboulay Alderman E.W. Mabbette Proposed Holiday Shopping By-law No. 1780. Last. Monday City Council gave first three readings to a by-law to allow additional’ businesses to open on holidays, Sundays, etc. The reason for the change of direction over the previous week was that our neighbour to the west "Coquitlam" decided to go for a referendum to the citizens of Coquitlam. - At the October 20, 1980 Council meeting Coquitlam Council reversed their ‘decision and as a result it leaves us alone or possibly with Port Moody going to the citizens, at the coming municipal elections. It is our opinion that Port Coquitlam City’Council should reconsider their ‘decision of October the 20th, 1980; primarily based on the Coquitiam Council decision and secondly on the large petition that was Presented to Council at the last minute, at the meeting of October 20th, 1980. We would request the Mayor and other Council members give serious consideration to this request. ; . ‘ Respectfully submitted, Alderman L.M. Traboulay Alderman E.W. Mabbett
