TO ALL RESIDENTS

Changes in the Operation of the City
Residential Garbage Collection System

On behalf of the Mayor and Council, I am writing to
let you know of some cost saving efficiencies which are being
introduced into the City garbage collection operation.

Since some of these changes may affect you, please
read carefully all the accompanying information.

a) Revised Collection Pays

A reorganization of some of the routes will lead to
changes in the regular collection day in some areas. The attached
map shows the revised pickup schedules. Please locate your home
on the map and determine the correct new pickup date for your
home. The new schedules will come into effect the week of Monday,

April 30th, 1979.

b) By-law Recuirements

You are reminded of the by-law requirements that all
garbage to be picked up must be placed right at the edge of the
road or lane and must be out by 7:30 a.m. on the day of pickup.
Crews will not be able to return to pick up garbage missed because
it was not out in the right place or on time. Any garbage not
picked up for these reasons will have to be left until the next

regular pickup day.

c) Elimination of Cleanup Week

The high cost of spring and fall cleanup weeks and
the problems of junk accumulating in lanes and back yards
between cleanup weeks has led the City to consider a better
alternative. -

Starting this year the City will no longer he desig-
nating special cleanup weeks. Instead, any cleanup materials
will be picked up at all times during the year by the reoular
garbage crews on your normal pickup day. EVERY WEEK IS CLEANUP

These items can now be included with your reqular residential
garbage:

bagged lawn clippings

bundled tree cuttings *

white goods (household appliances)

boxes or crates.
