Ny THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM C 0 U \ C MEMORANDUM - AUG 13 1979 Mayor and Council August 13, 1979 F.E. Peters, City Engineer : Accumulation of Brush at Hazel Trembath School * Clearing of the underbrush between the Mary Hill Row Housing and the Hazel Trembath School is now taking place with the work being done by the Corrections Branch. As neither the Corrections Branch nor the Committee of Residents is equipped to dispose of the brush which is being piled up under the B.C. Hydro Right-of-Way, Alderman Keryluk expressed concern to me that these piles of brush would dry out and become a fire hazard. It was Suggested that the City might do something in the way of providing equipment and labor to haul this material away. I have contacted Genstar since it is their property and they had initially expressed a willingness to assist the residents with the job. I have been assured by Genstar that they will provide a vehicle and equipment to gather up the piles of brush and to haul it to a safe site on their property. However, as the work is progressing Slowly, they cannot afford to have a vehicle and equipment available On a regular basis and will therefore have to wait until there is enough brush to justify putting a vehicle out to pick it up. They will probably be hauling the brush away two or three times during the clearing operation. ‘This would still ensure that the cut brush does not get dry enough to be a fire hazard. I should point out that the fact that the brush would be hauled away to a safe location within the gravel pits would not prevent it from being set on fire prior to our October 15th burning deadline. This is for your information. ee FE. Peters, P. Eng., City Engineer FEP/seg L 4 RACE Uooivaa SYED AT: attr AUG 1.3 1979
