Alderman Ranger advised that two or three years ago a developer did come in with a plan of subdivision for the site, but it was a disaster in terms of access and other problems. Alderman Laking stated his support of the comments made by Alderman Ranger, mentioning that some of the houses would have teen built within a very few feet of the creek, and that the propo sal had been turned down. Mr. M, Walton again spoke to the meeting arid mentioned that in the 1969 “Eastgate Study" it was stated that the area should not be further developed. Alderman Laking advised that while the Council did not adopt the Eastgate Study, there was nothing to that effect stated in it. Mrs. Barbara Fullerton again spoke to the meeting and stated she could find no record of the Eastgate Study in the City Hall, and none in the Vancouver Public Library; however, Alderman Laking advised that a copy of the Study is available at the City Hall. Mrs. Fullerton mentioned that sprinkling regulations are in effect during the summer months and queried how the water pressure in the area would be affected by the propo- sed development. A resident of Scott Place then asked the meeting to vote by a show of hands as to the number in favour of the project and the number apposed, and it was evident from the response that the majority were opposed. Following the conclusion of the Public Nearing at 8:20 p.m. in the Parish Hall of St. Catherine's Anglican Church, the Council and members of the Public Gallery moved to the Council Chambers of the City Hall where the regular meeting was convened at 8:30 p.m. CONFIRMATION OF MINUTES: Moved by Alderman Laking: Seconded by Alderman Mabbett: That the minutes of the regular meeting of this Council held on July 22nd, 1974, be taken as read and adopted. Alderman Ranger stated it was good to see the number of Industrial building permits going out and noted that they totalled over $1,000,000.00 for the month. The report was received for information.
