Under the able directorship of Norah Ferguson, the cast is diligently rchearsing four times per week, In addition to the people involved in the action on-stage, another busy group is sct- ting the tone: locale, era and mood of the production. After consultation with director and script — ‘‘..a line of girls in old-style gym suits enters...’? — costume designer Marianne Brommp Weston has her detailed ijlustrations ready for skilled seamstresses Marisa and Debra Ramus, Annette Mcll- moyle, Cindy Dumont and Phyllis Hull. Set designers Trudy Ward and Ray Lov- stad have their twa-storey cutaway sct conceptualized, The next step is to share their specs with the director, costumer, set builders and props crew, The props crew is compriscd of Gayle Holtom, with plenty of TLT props experi- ence and Sam MacKenzie and Betty Barton — newcomers to the job. Taking their cue from the script —- “‘.upstage Mr. Weyburn has entered, wheeling a large steamer trunk on a hand cart... they gather the props to ‘‘dress’” the sel and aid the actors as they appear on-stage with the required prop in hand. Acquiring the props for this light- hearted family musical comedy. is a chal- lenge, to say the least. The play is set in a girls’ boarding school in the late 1940s and the props crew claim they’re too young to know what things looked like back then! The more than 100 props include a suit of armour and war surplus, an ald- fashioned plant sprayer, an airhorn, a walking stick, an old frame in which to hang a portrait, a leather briefcase, binoculars, an clectric school bell, and a police whistle. Any area residents able lo lend these ilems or others from a post-war school setting, please call Gayle at 635-5600, Sam at 635-4280 or Betty at 635-6244, as. quickly as possible. The sooner the cast has their props with which to rehearse, the smoother their ac- tions during performances. We'll keep you posted as work prog- resses [or the Nov. 26, 27, and 28 stage debut of Utter Glory of Morisey Hall. RUSINESS DIRECTORY TERRACE EXPERTS — IN A GLANCE HAIRSTYLING | NOW OPEN!
