A = Terrace Review — Wednesday, June 13, 1990 Peaks to meet 91 Games with gy! by Tod Strachan The Terrace Peaks Gymnastics Club is well on the way to laying - the first brick for their own gym-. nasium complex. It’s been some time since they received word that _ the Kitimat-Stikine Regional Dis- trict had accepted the idea of the Peaks’ gymnasium as an addition ‘to the =Thomhill Community Centre, but the wheels of progress have been in motion. It was announced last week by Skeena MLA Dave Parker that the Peaks Gymnastics - Club has received approval of a $40,000 GO B.C. award to cover one-third of the cost of Phase I construction; _ Ready to Contributed by Alle Toop Every year around this time the Oldtimers’ Reunion commit- tee gets into high gear, getting ready for their annual banquet. The banquet is always held on . the last Saturday in July, and this year that falls on the 28th. Anyone who has lived in Terrace since 1960 or before is eligible to attend. It also means that if you were - born in Terrace in 1960, you - qualify to come to the reunion. You don’t have to be ‘‘old”’ to - be an Oldtimer. | The get-together will be held at the Terrace Hotel, now called the Terrace Inn. It is only fitting that it is held there, since the the gymnasium itself. A lobby and other amenities will be added in future projects. Club president Erika Neves says the club has already raised $40,000: of their own money for the project as well, but she adds there is still some fundraising to be done and that the club will be holding brick sales over the next two--months. Through these sales of shares Tanging in value between $25 and $500 each, and corporate donat- ions, she says the club hopes to bring in another $10,000.
