WHAT REPAIRS QUALIFY MY HOUSE? e To be eligible for RRAP, your house must be substandard or deficient and need MAJOR repairs or lack basic facilities in one of the following categories: - Structural - Electrical - Plumbing - Heating - Fire Safety or be a crowded dwelling in a rural area. Normal maintenance or modernization work, such as painting the interior and exterior, installing storm windows or doors, replacing carpets or floor coverings, replacing kitchen cupboards, or adding recreation rooms, etc., would NOT qualify a house for RRAP. lf your house qualifies for RRAP, all work needed to bring your house up to the minimum standard of health and safety must be done. REPAIRS ALREADY COMPLETED ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. WHO DOES THE REPAIR WORK? e Acontractor may do the work, or you may do the repair work yourself, if you are qualified. STEPS FOR RRAP _ Homeowner fills out the application and provides proof of income’ to the RRAP delivery agent. . An inspector inspects the house, and then sends homeowner a list of eligible repairs. . Homeowner asks contractors for written cost estimates of the eligible repairs. . Homeowner sends complete cost estimates to the RRAP delivery agent. . CMHC approves or rejects the application. . If application is approved, work may Start. _ As work is done, horneowner receives payment from CMHC and pays the contractor. *NOTE: Proof of income is needed for all household members with an income. Proof of income can be: e a letter from your employer; e acertitied copy of your most current tax return and Notice of Assessment; or e cheque stub - if gross income is shown.
