Moved: by Alderman Wright: Secondec by Alderman Muldoon: WHEREAS the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam are desirous of constructing a Community building on Aggie Park at the intersection of Chester Street and Coquitlam Avenue; AND WHEREAS at its meeting of January llth, 1982 this Council gave concept approval to that proposal; AND WHEREAS further discussions have taken place between the-Council and the representatives of the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam; AND WHEREAS it is thought desirable to outline, on a preliminary basis, the nature of the Agreement that will be entered into by the City and the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam; NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the proposal of the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam to build a Community Building on Aggie Park at the intersection of Chester Street and Coquitlam Avenue be approved on the following basis: 1. The City will lease an appropriate site area to the Kinsmen Club of Port Coquitlam for the sum of $1.00 per year for five (5) years; plus a renewal term; The City will provide water hook-up, sewex hook-up, and electrical hook-up to the Community building free of charge; The City will take the necessary steps to see that property taxes are not applied to the building; The City will obtain the building permit; and the Kinsmen will obtain other necessary permits; and will -onstruct the building in accordance with plans to be submitted and will not occupy the building until an occupancy permit is obtained; The Kinsmen will cetain responsibility for scheduling events in the building. The Kinsmen will permit the City some nominal amount of free use of the building; The Kinsmen will undertake complete responsibility for caretaking, maintenance and insuring of the building; The City and Kinsmen will have prepared and will execute the necessary formal Agreement containing the points hereinbefore contained. Alderman Gates voted against the resolution.
