COUNC) YUL 13 1981 “THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM MEMORANDUM TO: Mayor and Council July 8, 1981 FROM: Public Works Committee Report of Public Works Committee meeting held Tuesday, July 7th, 1981, . IN ATTENDANCE: Alderman L.M. Traboulay, Chairman Alderman J.d. Keryluk, Co-~chairman F.E. Peters, City Engineer Gerry St. Germaine for Item Tf ITEM I Re: Drainage in Lane behind Taylor Street Gerry Si. Germaine was present to discuss a problem of drainage in three of the former City~owned lots along Taylor Street north of Warwick Avenue. These lots are provided with a storm Sewer in the front but have a drainage problem in the rear yard because the lane in the rear is built higher than the road in the front and the foundation Grains around the house are too high to be used to cennecth thea - Lf 78 Sense from the rear. The. driveways have settled and water how ponds on the driveways. Mr. St. Germaine claims that the houses were built to the correct elevation in rela- tion to the road but that the City raised the lane when it was paved at his request last year. The Committee looked at this problem on site and determined that the only feasible solution to the drainage problem would be to install a section of storm sewer pipe along the edge of the lane to the ditch which runs down the Warwick Avenue road allowance. - Germaine has agreed to repave the affected driveways and to drain the back yards to the new storm sewer if the City installs the storm sewer, We feel that a low cost solution would be the use of a flexible perforated drainpipe of about eighty feet in length. The major cost is the need to break up a portion of the pavement and to repave it after the pipe is installed. The cost is estimated to be about $900.00. The Committee recommends that this work be done and that the funds be taken from the unallocated fund in the Public Works Budget.
