C.’s resources. September 30 and that the Soc- reds and old line parties are turned out. It has also become increasingly clear that the NDP in B.C. pro- vides the only realistic govern- ment alternative. B.C. the biggest Fulton’s Tories offer the people any real choice. Their big busi- ness policies,’ which differ little from the Socreds, stand discred- ited before the voters, who have had enough of the old line parties in B.C. Premier Bennett and the Soc- reds have shown increasing con- cern over the prospects of de- feat in the last few days of the election campaign. That is why Bennett has gone all out to urge Tory and Liberal voters to unite , behind Social Credit to block the election of an NDP government. — Well he might worry too! In the 1960 provincial election the Soc- reds polled only 38.3 percent of. the vote compared to 32.7 per- cent for the NDP. This time the people of B.C. can elect an NDP government if they unife at the polis on September 30. Labor especially has a big job to do in mobilizing all-out support to tip the scales. ras The announcement a few days ago.of the $500 million wheat deal — with the Soviet Union, along with grain deals recently signed with China, opens vast possibilities for increased trade which could bring boom in its history. Expanded trade with the soc- jialist countries not only strength- ens peace—it also opens up the need for expanding our water- front, building a merchant mar- ine, turning our raw materials to the manufacture of products .which_can be sold around the world. On the basis of this ex- panded trade B.C. can utilize its wood, minerals, natural gas, pet- roleum and hydro resources to — build vast new processing indust- ries. -The Communist Party is the : only party which consistently fought to bring forward the cent- ral issue of natural resources and industrial development. It is the. only party which exposed Ben- nett’s election manoeuvre and planned betrayal of the Columbia. _ It is the only party calling for ~ abandonment of the U.S. nuclear dump at Comox. It has also join- ed with all those who want to elect an NDP government, and worked sincerely to unite the Jabor-farmer vote. The four Communist candidates deserve strong support from vot- ers in their riding. The candidates _ are: William E.
