THAT the following resolution relative to the Mining Industry in
B.C. be supported:

1.

THAT a definite public statement of support be made
for continued mining and exploration in British
Columbia.

THAT the Provincial Government’s environmental
standards be made clear, reasonable and practical.

THAT the Provincial Government’s approval process be
streamlined. Proponents and all stakeholders must
meet specific deadlines to ensure application for
final approval takes no more than 18 months.

THAT the Provincial Government’s Terms of Reference be
clarified so proponents will have some understanding of
whether or not a project is feasible before being
forced to spend the substantial risk capital necessary
to go forward.

THAT the Provincial Government’s fair standards be
maintained and that no major changes to the rules
occur once the process is underway.

AND THAT the resolution be sent to all municipalities in B.C. as-

well as the Ministry of Energy, Mines & Petroleum Resources and
J. Pement, M.L.A.;

AND THAT Administration draft a similar resolution for U.B.C.M.

CARRIED.
