THE CORPORATION OF THE
CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM

MEMORANDUM
Public Works Committee DATE: November 15, 1990
C.F. (Kip) Gaudry, P. Eng.
Deputy City Engineer

SUBJECT: B.C. TRANSIT

Relocation of bus stop to eastbound McAllister from southbound
Shaughnessy.

Extend bus zone on McAllister by 50 feet.

Relocating bus transfers and lay overs from downtown centre,

RECOMMENDATIONS :

1. Approve the request to re-route bus No. 152 and relocate its
downtown bus stop from Shaughnessy Street to McAllister Avenue as
shown on figure No. 1 from B.C. Transit (attached).

Not approve the request to extend the length of the bus zone
located on McAllister Avenue east of Shaughnessy as requested by
B.C. Transit in their letter of September 21, 1990 (attached).

Invite representatives from B.C. Transit to Public Works Committee

to discuss relocation of some of the bus transfer and layover
routes from the downtown area to other appropriate areas.

BACKGROUND:

In a letter dated September 21, 1990, B.C. Transit requested that a bus stop
be relocated and a bus Storage area be lengthened to accommodate a problem
they are having in the downtown area. While regular enforcement is being
administered by the R.C.M.P., it is not effective in eliminating abusers.
Please see the attached memorandum from the Project/Traffic Technician dated
October 31, 1990 for more details.
