"BACKGROUND:

‘The Genstar development-has been under study by the City for a
considerable time. Work on the development has reached a stage
that it is felt that detail zoning can be applied and a public
sehearing. be. held-about it. oo. vole we ce =

History of work on. this proposal began in the summer of 1982
“-(dune);, when Genstar- made a presentation to City Counci!
outlining their intentions. Following that the Mayor set up a
Steering Committee to provide guidance to work on the project.
‘This Committee has now completed its work, bringing the
Proposal to a detai| working drawing level.

‘During February, an open house’ meeting was held, to give
residents of Port Coquitiam the opportunity to review the
Proposal and pass along their comments. Foliowing that, work
on detail elements of the proposal was undertaken, on the basis
of a feeling of general support by residents! attending the
open house. As mentioned above work has proceeded to the point
“that it is felt the application should be advanced to a public
hearing.
