ary desires to establish a_mis-
sion point in this area with a
view to establishing a new testa-

vided the saviour when His son
died on Calvary's cross.
Christ's personal ministry He or-
ganized His church, he gave His
church two ordinances, the
Lord's Supper and Scriptural
baptism: He commissioned His

preach the gospel to all nations
and telling them He would be
with them down to the end of
mi. this age. We helieve the true
ehurch has come down through
the ages and can be identified;

Letters fo the
EDITOR

Editor
Terrace “Omineca” Herald

May I use space in your news-
paper to sum up some of the past
year’s operation of the Terrace
branch of the BC, SPCA (British
Columbia Soelety for the Preven-
tion of Cruelty to Animals) and go
over, once again, the aims of the
society here in Terrace,

Since the branch was formed
one year ago in Terrace, I have
dealt with over 350 telephone
ealls, made eighteen house visits,
sent sixty letters, not including
one hundred letters of appeal for
membership, and have maintain-
ed correspondence with newly
formed SPCA branches in Burns
Lake and Prince Rupert. These
figures should prove SPCA serv-
ices are needed and wanted in
Terrace. ;

Most people know that SPCA
provides for animal shelters and
inspectors and generally runs the
animal control program of the
community it serves. But not so
many people realize there has to
be enough public support for the
SPCA to do these things before
it can be established and maintain-
ed by the parent body in Victoria,
It is not possible to provide SPCA
services unless there is member-
ship support. There are only 1 or
2 trained and paid staff members
needed to provide the service, but
many hundreds of paid up mem-
bers to keep it going. I am quite
convinced that, in Terrace, there
are enough people to support an
SPOA branch.

Because SPCA is a new venture
here, does not mean it is a new
society, but {t does mean ane hag
to. show support by becoming
members when, al this early stage,
there may not be too much to
show for one’s membership. One
cannot have an ‘instant SPCA,’ and
it takes a little more courage to
join something which is just start.
ing. But if all those who care and
respect their own animals, as well
as all other creatures including
wild animals, were to show that
care and respect by hecoming
members of the SPCA in Terrace,
there would be a big step for-
ward in dealing with some of the
problems which exist now. Hum.
ane destruction of animals is one
of the important services which an
SPCA branch can provide.

There will be a public annual
general meeting of the Terrace
SPCA at 7:30 p.m. on March. 16,
in the Anglican Church Hall in
Terrace, and it will be followed
by an executive committee meet
ing. It is urgently requested that
as many as possible attend this
meeting, and membership sub
scriptions will be taken. The mem.
bership fee is $2. Anyone inter
ested in further details or infor.
mation before the meeting, can
call VI 35-2038, .

Yours truly,

Mrs. Peter Moore
President, SPCA,
Terrace, B.C,
