The Herald, Tuesday, October 24. 1978 14 karate students graded A sport normally unthought of by the general public has been quietly growing in the Terrace area over the past ar or 30. Joe Vienneau’s rate studio at 9315 Clark St. in Thornhill had just 9 kids registered a year ago, and is now teaching 23 kids and a good number of adults the ‘wado-ryu' style of karate. Vienneau took over the Terrace Karate Club a year ago when their black belt instructor moved to Prince George. Since he was holding the sessions in his Yellowhead Hay and Grain Store on Clark Road, he dicided tu rename the club the Yellowhead Karate Club, Vienneau himself took up karate about six years ago, and holds a Green Belt. Last Thursday, Jim Hamilton of Prince George, a Black Belt karate in- structor, paid the Yellowhead Karate Club a visit on his way through town, and as a result several of Vienneau's students had an opportunity to be graded in the Wado-Rywu style of karate. - Adult karate students begin their grading with 6Q, ard cioss.
