eo ay, CEDAR DRIVE SCHOOL PARENTS ASSOCIATION 781 Pinemont Avenue Port Coquitlam, B.C. June 29, 1979, The Mayor and Council, The Corporation of the City of Port Coquitlam 2272 McAllister Port Coquitlam, B.C. Dear Mayor Campbell and Council; Re-Conversion of Prairie & Cedar Dr. intersection To _a 4-way Stop. The parents of children attending the Cedar Drive Elementary School have over the last few years, expressed growing concern over the safety hazard posed by the increase traffic flow through the above mentioned intersection. This flow of traffic in terms of volume will no doubt increase, as various phases of the Lincoln Park Gevelopement are comp]oted not to mention the Cedar Park developement. The projected enrollment for the 1979-80 school year for the school is approximately 350 students, the majority of whom utilize the pedestrian crosswalks at the intersection. At present, the intersection is serviced by two stop signs governing traffic on Cedar Drive only. The safety hazard is posed by the flow of traffic eastward along Prairie Ave. turning north onto Cedar Dr. Our Associdtion on behalf of the parents, school administration and children, request that the City give consideration to converting the intersection into 2 4-way stop, through the installation of two stop signs on Prairie for both east and west bound traffic. The installation would in our opinion be the most effective methcd in dealing with the hazard and concern. , We look forward to an early reply on the matter, and thank you in advance for your consideration of this request. Sincerely yours Cedar Drive School, Parents Association Stan Pukesh, President,
