purchasing land in Surrey. The land there is cheaper, it does not require filling and Surrey does not require off~site servicing. I have been working with better than twenty Industrial and Development firms in 1977. To date success has been limited, the main problem being the cost of land in Port Coquitlam. In 1976 the only two industries to locate were the two on Broadway which the Planning and Zoning Committee acquired and the Industrial Committee recommended against the City paying the cost of carrying the services along Broadway even when the funds would be returned when this land was rezoned. I do not at this time have the answer as to what steps should be taken, but when an Alderman makes a remark to the effect that no effort is being made to acquire industry, I personally resent it.
