We are very concerned that some of the development referred to previously will further degrade the Coquitlam system, especially some of the more productive tributaries which are virtually sustaining fish populations in the system. If this happens, it is conceivable that it could preclude implementation of at least some of the recommendations that arise out of the Coquitlam River Water Management Study. To ensure that this doesn't happen, we intend to carefully scrutinize all proposed developments within the Coquitlam drainage that in our opinion could affect the outcome of the Coquitlam River Water Management Study. Therefore, certain applications may take longer than normal to process and the restrictions we place on certain types of developments may be more stringent than usual. However, we believe, as I'm sure you will agree, that such action is not only necessary but in everyone's best interest. Your cooperation in this matter would be sincerely appreciated.
