Comittee of the. District of Coquitian on Friday, January 18th, 1974 held for the

: @ vercicuter, the North side fire hall and fire protection in the North-east end of
‘the District of Coquitlam. In its “report, the Committee stated that it was agreed
to enter “dato reciprocal arrangenents for fire ‘protection as quickly as possible
in “order r to.provie fire. protection for the. North-east sector of Coquitlam and to
improve service to the portions of - the. ‘City of: Port doquitlan lying West of the
Coquitlam River, and set forth several recommendat tions nade in that regard.
Alderman. Mabbett and Alderman Ranger indicated their willingness te propcese a res~
olution that would approve all three recommendations made by the Fire Committee
but-at.the request of Alderman Traboulay it was agreed that the items would be
dealt with separately. Alderman Traboulay stated that in his opinion recommenda-

tion No. 3 should not be before the meeting as it pre-supposed a successful con-
clusion to. the previous | econnendations, and Alderman. ‘Ranger replied stating this
recomendation was: included as the Committee.was taking.a positive attitude look-
ing for : a resolution of problems. Alderman Keryluk referred to City-owned pro-
‘perty on Sefton Street just North of Prairie Avenue and inquired why this site

| could not. be used for a fire hall: site rather than purchasing additional pro-
perty and Alderman Thompson replied: stating his view that the Sefton Street site
‘was too close to the busy intersection of Prairie Avenue and Coast Meridian Road
to be of. value. |

iprocal arrangement for fire protection sO that the City Fire Department will pro~
tect the North-east end of Coquitlam and Coquitlan will Protect the ‘Property West |
of € the Coquitlan River and that ‘the: City Council be urged to move with all haste
