- .° You will recall that on November 19th, 1971 we forwarded to you a ae oe
copy of By-law No. 1129 of the City cited as the "Westwood Street Traffic .
’ Regulation Ly-law, 1971, No. 1129" and advised that this By-law: had received
three readings at our regular Council meeting held on November 15th, 1971.
You will recall that that By-law prohibited vehicles having a gross vehicle
weight of 10,000 lbs. or greater from using Westwood Street except between
the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday to Saturday, inclusive. _ : es

In accord with the agreement made by our two Councils it is, of
course, not possible for this City to unilaterally impose weight restric-
tions on Westwood Street and our By-law has not been finally adopted due to
the lack of an agreement with your Council. Co

At the regular meeting of our Council held on Monday, May 8th, 1972 So
this subject was again discussed and the Council were advised that the noise —
problen on Westwood Street caused by gravel trucks is still not improved and : i
the Aldermen were advised by His Worship Mayor LeB. Scott that despite several
requests made by him to your Mayor J.L. Tonn for a joint meeting of our two
Councils, it appeared that Mayor. oan was unwilling or unable to arrange such °
a meeting. Accordingly, the Council passed the following resolution:

"phat this Council demand a meeting with that of the District of a
Coquitlam pursuant to the terms of the joint agreement with that municipality
to discuss the Westwood Street situation." ... ; 0 . me

We trust you will agree that this is a matter of urgent concern and
that you will place this letter before your Council at the earliest possible
opportunity in order that the meeting requested may be scheduled for an early

date.
