THE CORPORATION OF THE CITY OF PORT COQUITLAM -~2- ITEM IV ‘re: Anita Drive Storm Sewer Reference is made to the letter to the Mayor and Council dated January llth, 1978 from Mr. Eric Huffy, a copy of which is attached hereto. The basic problem on Anita Drive is that this street was paved and curbed without any storm sewer installation. A storm sewer installation on Anita Drive would solve the consid- erable problem of water flowing down the street and freezing during cold weather periods. A storm sewer installation was considered for the 1976 budget but did not make it past the Public Works Committee. $35,000 was placed for Council consid-—- eration in the 1977 budget but did not receive approval. It has been pointed out that there is another program by which a storm sewer.could be installed on Anita Drive, that is under a Local Improvement Program. A storm sewer installation under the normal construction schedule would cost $1.00 per front foot for ten years. A storm sewer installation under the advanced construction schedule would cost $2.00 per front foot for ten years. In other words, for a 75-foot lot the cost per year for ten years would be $75.00 per year or $150.00 per year depending on which schedule was selected. In view of the manner in which similar problems have been dealt with and improvements provided the Committee recommends that a storm sewer be provided under the Local Improvement Program. Respectfully submitted, A V.G. Borch,/P. Eng., City Engineer
