Those two unsightly box cars have been moved from the Valley Oxygen property. A Thomhill citizen bad been storing the boxcars there, Now the Terrace Beauti- fication Society can go on with beautifying that corner which has been so very un- sightly for so long. ‘But I have to voice a few more concerns over other unsightly areas which need our attention, as well as some shocking behaviour. On Saturday, April 3 around 10 a.m. a very well respected senior lady of our community was out for a morning walk when she was suddenly approached by some weirdo wha exposed himself to her. He not only shocked her, he also fright- ened her very much. I say why are some men such weird animals? But my number one con- cem this week is a certain HERE ‘N THERE _ YVONNE MOEN The old Kalum trailer court has been very mun down for too many years. The time has come for it to be brought up to a better standard. With heip from our cily people it could be- come a park — somewhat like what the Kenmcde Park development people did, Lets do away with some of those very unsightly trailers. With some work done in that area if would certainly make for a nicer atmasphere. And then there’s the old Keystone Apartments, A lot of work has to be done here, It literally needs a good clean out. The city should start sending out fines to spec land owners for unsightly premises, or force those owners to clean up twice a year in the _ Spring and fall. area of town — Kalum St. from Davis Ave. at Copper- side to the bottom of Kalum hill. This year the city is doing some major upgrading in this area. Unfortunately, that area of town can be very un- sightly, and most residents living in Terrace would not feel safe walking in this area late al night, and some avoid it even during the day. Auother concer is the empty lots on the 4700 block of Park Ave, just down from the liquor store. I believe this land is owned by two different partics, Many of the area residents constantly com- plain of this area to the city and the police. Unfortunately some people go siraight from the liquor store to that area to drink their bottle in the empty lots. A huge mess bas built up in the area, and it’s dangerous to an innocent child passing through. T think the two landowners should be made to do a major clean up before some- one is hurt. The last of my concerns for now is the short cut that ruis thought the bush at the end of the 4800 block of Park Ave, behind Davis St. hames, coming out at Mun- roe. , This area is a disgusting mess and is also unsafe. Here again many area residences have problems with the parties held in the bush there. There is also fighting and some residents have had their bomes broken into. It’s time to have this path closed before the violence gets out of control. The city should start send- ing out fines to spec land owners for unsightly premises, or force those owners to clean up twice a year in the spring and fall. And if the fire department sh»tld make the move to the “10 block of Park Ave. 1 bo ve that Park and Davis ‘e from Kenny St. to Spar. should be pushed through. it would certainly save a lot of time for our fire trucks in an emergency. The residents living on the 4700 block of Davis have been trying for years to have this street pushed through. Pll ead this by saying if you're interested in becom- ing a volunteer for the Ter- race Beautification Society and helping to make Terrace ‘look better, please join us in our meetings, the first Thursday of every month at 7 p.m. at the council cham- bers in cily ball, Flying is now more affordable than ever.
