He was the recipient of the Physics 12 Award and the Andrew Rahme Memorial
Award for Applied Science. Ryan wrote ihe Scholastic Achlavemem Tests in his
grade twelve year and placed in the 89 percentile, and received scores of §
(highest possible} in Advancement Placement tests in Physics and Calculus. In
addition to his academic achiavaments, Ryan was involved in drama, jazz
trumpat, soccer and rugby. In his grade eleven year, Ryan went on a nighy tour
with a Brentwood Rugby team in the United Kingdorn; In his grade twelve yeas,
he toured Euope with the Brentwood Rugby team. He enjoyed taking part in
"Fiddler On The Roof’, “Nicholas Nickleby’, and “My Fair Lady’. Ryan was the
captain of the Brentwood Second XV Rugby team but played for both the
Second XV and First XV Rugby teams. He was a school prefect and also
assistant captain of Ellis House, Ryan received a B.C. Provincial Scholwship. In
July 1993, he was a participant In tha Shad Valley Progiam held at Carleton
University in Ottawa, one of eight centres co-ordinated by the Centre for
Creative Technology of Waterloo, Ontario, He began his studies in Mechanical
Engineering al the University of Waterloo, in Ontarlo, on Monday 13 September
1999, Ryan Is the son of John Chen-Wing and the late Alice Chen-Wing who
engendered in Ryan, at avery early age, the love and importance of learning;
qrand-son af Ella Uberall (Terrace); the nephew of Jennifer and Johnson Chen
Wing (Trinidad) Luise and Bit Keenleyside (Terrace), soyce and Larry Krause
(Terrace), Angela and Ken Mac Millan (Burnaby), and: Victoria Uberall
(Vancouver). Many thanks qo to the fine and excellent teachers in Terrace and
at Brentwood College School for Inspiring and motivating Ryan to even greater
accomplishments, Special thanks go to the Rahme family for sponsoring the
